Why a hatchet, though?
We believe every woodworker should have a hatchet in their kit. Hatchets are most effective for roughing out larger carvings and architectural work, however they'll do great for any project where you need to remove a lot of wood quickly in the early stages. Where it would ordinarily take hours with a knife to remove the excess wood, you can clear it off with a hatchet in just a few minutes. After that, you can go in with your smaller tools to hone in on the details. Bonus points: your hatchet can also be used to section the log you’ll be working with!
