The NOVA 6000 Face Plate Ring is an accessory for NOVA Chucks, designed to expand your range and capacity of your standard NOVA Chuck for specific projects and applications. Fits to the NOVA JS50N 50mm (2″) Chuck Accessory Jaw Set to provide a strong and fast method for mounting of bowl blanks, offering a secure mounting of a faceplate with the quick convenience and power of a chuck. Strong mounting even with irregular sized wood and rough cut surfaces. Provides a better alternative to the wood worm screw which is only suitable for smaller bowls. Made from high tensile steel with screw hole positions.
What are faceplate rings, and why use them?
A faceplate ring is a steel collar that can be screwed into a blank of wood, and features a beveled inside edge that can be gripped firmly with a set of scroll jaws. There are 2 advantages to the use of a faceplate ring in comparison to a traditional faceplate, which screws onto the headstock threads of your lathe.
The primary advantage is for users who frequently turn green wood, where the typical process is to rough out the green blank and let it fully dry before re-mounting and fine tuning the shape of their project. faceplate rings can be left in place on the work piece until it is ready for final turning, ensuring it can be remounted easily, accurately, and securely. High production turners often keep a large stack of faceplate rings for this purpose.
A secondary advantage is for those who turn using a lathe which uses a different headstock thread than the standard 1″X8tpi or 1-1/4″X8tpi options. Regular faceplates are generally not available in more niche thread sizes, but all NOVA Chucks are available in an insert version which can be fit with a custom insert onto any lathe. Face Plate Rings utilize the versatility of chuck jaws to easily be fitted on any lathe, regardless of headstock threads.

It works very well . I did a couple of big bowls ,13 1/2 inch and a 12 inch . No slippage at all . I wish they would make one for the 75 mm strong bowl jaws .
