What Happened to the Original NOVA Chucks?
When the Pro-Tek models were introduced, NOVA also updated the previous generation of G3 and SuperNOVA 2 chucks with right-hand tightening and marketed them as the “Lite” line.
While the Lite models had fewer features than the Pro-Tek versions—for example, the basic kits no longer included the woodworm screw—they were still heavy-duty, full-performance woodturning chucks.
The word “Lite,” however, created an unfortunate misunderstanding.
Some customers interpreted the name to mean that these were lighter-duty or lower-quality chucks. In reality, that wasn’t the case. The NOVA Lite models were still built to the same standards of durability and performance that woodturners had come to expect from NOVA.
Introducing the NOVA Original G3 and SuperNOVA 2
Recognizing the confusion surrounding the “Lite” name, NOVA has now reintroduced these models as the Original G3 and Original SuperNOVA 2.
We think “Original” is a much better description. These chucks offer the proven, sturdy design that has made NOVA a trusted name in woodturning, while giving customers an alternative to the feature-rich Pro-Tek line.
The return of the Original models also comes with an expanded selection of NOVA chuck configurations and kits.
